March 16th 2009 Leveraging Investments in Learning Find out how you can leverage the significant investment made by the Irish government to drive innovation in technology and learning! Over the last 3 years a team of researchers worked on a next generation learning platform on behalf of the consortium of companies within the Irish Learning Alliance (ILA). This innovative project aims to integrate the informal learning activities that are now possible with Web 2.0 technologies into existing online business environments. | 10:00am | Taoiseach opens the Irish Learning Showcase | | 10:15am | Introduction to the Irish Learning Alliance and the ILA ELITE research programme | | 11:00am | New Era of Networked Learning: Hear Dr. Tony O'Driscoll from Duke University explore how Social Media and Virtual World technologies are ushering in a new era of networked learning and discuss how these new technologies are disrupting the traditional tell-and-test model for learning. | | 12:00pm | Lunch and Networking | | 1:00pm | Bersin & Associates: "Informal Learning Becoming Formal" - Al Johnson will share the latest thinking from Bersin & Associates in relation to the increased importance of "informal learning" to your organization’s learning strategy and culture. | | 2:00pm | CEO Panel – A chance to engage in a discussion with the CEOs from the Irish Learning Alliance, find out their view on the future of learning technology and its key role in driving business success in difficult economic circumstances. Also - what was it like to work in an alliance to commercially lead 3 years of innovative research. | | 3:00pm | "Take-Aways" –To conclude the showcase the ILA leaders will provide an overview of the key outcomes from the ILA ELITE research programme.
