KESP Case Study

Member companies have a proven history of working together to deliver high quality solutions, on time and under budget, for customers. One recent high profile example has been the KESP project.

KESP LogoKESP is the Knowledge Economy Skills Passport, an innovative blended learning programme that develops core skills for knowledge economy workers.

It was conceived in 2004 by a group of 4 Irish e-Learning companies (ThirdForce, Intuition, WBT Systems, ServeCast), the National College of Ireland and Intel.

Its rich blend of video, audio, multimedia and instructor led learning is backed by a smart LMS and communications platform

KESP delivery is now part of Irish government economic strategy as specifically mentioned as a priority in “Towards 2016” the current social partnership strategy.

The KESP pilot programme was rolled out to 500 learners in approx 20 Irish companies starting in Jan 07. It delivered 80 hours of learning consisting of rich media e-learning, m-learning, web casts, instructor led/classroom sessions and exploratory learning using existing web resources.

Participants qualifed for a recognised Higher Education qualification on successful programme completion while also supporting a valuable evaluation and research activity.

KESP consists of the following 5 modules:

  • What is the Knowledge Economy?
  • Information and Knowledge in the Knowledge Economy
  • Innovation in the Knowledge Economy
  • Business Fundamentals of the Knowledge Economy
  • Intrapreneurship & Entrepreneurship in the Knowledge Economy Enterprise
